Refining the Science

The Advanced Programme is for students who have mastered the basics and are ready to explore the deeper complexities of Jiu Jitsu. Usually suitable for Blue Belts and above, these classes move beyond "survival" and into "refinement".

We explore modern grappling concepts, advanced guard systems, leg entanglements, and intricate passing chains. The focus shifts from learning individual moves to understanding complete systems and their logical connections.

This is where you begin to develop your own personal "style" of Jiu Jitsu. Whether you prefer a heavy top game or a flexible modern guard, we help you sharpen your best weapons against high-level resistance.

Complex Guard Systems

Mastering modern guard play including Lapel, De La Riva, and X-Guard to control and sweep skilled opponents.

Modern Leg Lock Game

Developing a safe and technical understanding of modern lower-body entanglements and control positions.

High-Level Sparring

Testing your technical refinement during live rounds against the academy's most experienced practitioners.

Conceptual Learning

Moving away from rote memorisation towards understanding the universal principles of leverage and pressure.

Strategy & Tactics

Learning how to gameplan for specific opponents and manage the clock during high-intensity sessions.

Wrestling for BJJ

Integrating high-percentage takedowns and clinch work designed specifically for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ruleset.

Advanced Q&A

Who can attend advanced classes?

These classes are primarily for Blue Belts and above. However, 3rd or 4th-stripe White Belts may attend with specific permission from the Head Coach.

Do we do leg locks?

Yes. We teach the modern leg entanglement game with a strong focus on technical safety and the specific rules of IBJJF and ADCC.

Is it Gi or No-Gi?

We offer advanced curriculum for both Gi and No-Gi. Please refer to the timetable for the specific focus of each session.

What is the sparring intensity?

Intensity is typically higher than in Fundamentals, as students possess the technical control to roll hard safely. We focus on "technical intensity" over brute force.

Can I visit from another academy?

Yes. We welcome experienced practitioners from all affiliations. We just ask that you leave any "inter-gym ego" at the door and respect our "One Tribe" culture.
