SBG Belfast offer BJJ(Brazilian Ju-Jitsu) Classes, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Classes and Striking Classes including Muay Thai, Boxing and Kickboxing in Belfast City Centre. 

Our goal is to cater for everyday people who are aiming to develop themselves holistically both Body & Mind through the medium of Mixed Martial Arts

Brazilian jIu-jitsu (gi & no-gi)

At SBG Belfast we offer a various rang of classes in BJJ or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From Adults, Ladies, Kids to Foundational up to Competition Level. 

The concept of this sport is that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against an equal sized or stronger, heavier opponent. This is done by using technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the sport to the ground. From here various techniques are applied using your mind more than body to create joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defence situations.

BJJ is an extremely holistic game, guaranteed to build Mental and Physical strength whilst feeling zenned after a roll.

Boxing/Striking

At SBG Belfast we teaching fundamentals of Boxing/Striking in a safe and friendly environment. Learn basic footwork, striking and movement for Boxing/MMA and Self Defence. We also have an advanced boxing class for those with a bit more experience. Boxing is also a great way to keep fit and stay in shape while having fun and meeting new people. Suitable for both Male and Female.

Muay Thai & Kickboxing

Muay Thai is the known as the art of the eight limbs, the reasoning being is that it uses Punches, knees, elbows and kicking to strike or defend with. It has been and is still one of if not the most useful and dominant striking arts, now being popularised by its use and effectiveness within MMA by fighters such as Anderson Silva and more recently Edzon Barboza or Israel Adesanya.

It is also extremely well suited for self defence outside of the ring or octagon and is used by many for this purpose alone. It can be a great way to build your confidence or self esteem even if you have no intention of actually competing as well as being one of the best weight losing techniques within sports. Suitable for both Male and Female.

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

At SBG Belfast we offer a range of classes in Mixed Martial Arts from adults and teens. 

MMA is a full combat sport that allows both striking, clench fighting and grappling. The techniques used are from various Combat Sports/Mixed Martial Arts and are personalised to each individuals training goals and needs. Here at SBG Belfast all our classes are delivered in fun safe and informative manner regardless of varying ability levels.

Judo

Judo classes at the SBG Belfast are addressed both to people who actively practice martial arts, intermediate, as well as to all who want to learn about the phenomenon of this Olympic sport created by Jigoro Kano. There is no age limit, Judo for Adults is for everyone, regardless of age, we guarantee great fun, nice atmosphere, general well-being and overall health and immunity.

Wrestling

Wrestling the oldest martial art in the world, comprised of many forms of wrestling traditions.  MMA wrestling focuses on all aspects of wrestling applicable to MMA, freestyle, folkstyle, Greco-Roman and submission wrestling…the classes are designed to cater for all styles of grappling, self defence and combat sports.

Our head coach is Sergey Pikulskiy at SBG Naas and the catch lineage is through master Dave Finlay.

We all have competed and medalled at the Irish freestyle wrestling championships and both wrestlers and coaches hold Gold and silver medals.

Our classes here at SBG Belfast actively trains our MMA fighters in wrestling for the cage to great success. Suitable for both Male and Female.

Strength & Conditioning

At SBG Belfast we provide Strength and Conditioning with group environments from our coaches in addition to private One to One session with Wil Mac.

S&C sessions are geared towards not only building muscle strength, more so mental agility and confidence which prepares the body and mind to become much stronger when moving through BJJ and MMA, especially for competing. 

The conditioning element of the sessions is where our coaches provide HIIT training, enabling your body to become fitter and faster through cardio led movement and exercises. Overall becoming a stronger, fitter, faster version of you.

Yoga

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a practice rooted in the fundamentals – suitable for all-levels. No body is excluded, because yoga is for every body!

 

In the class you can expect a balanced practice with a focus on breath-led movement.

Time spent cultivating awareness in the body and mind is very beneficial to most of us, especially to those that practice martial arts.

Whether you practice for recreation or competition, yoga can serve you.

Yoga is an art that when approached with patience and a focused intention, can support every single aspect of your life. Inside and out.

This drop-in class is open to both SBG members and non-members
